What we collect
Only what a consultant needs to come back to you with a useful answer. There is no account to create and nothing to sign up for.
What you type
- Your name and phone number — so somebody can call you back. This is the only information any form on the site requires.
- Your e-mail address, if you give it, so we can send a written estimate.
- Your company name, on the forms meant for businesses and contractors.
- What you tell us about your site — the type of property, your monthly consumption or bill, roof area, and anything you write in the comments box. You choose how much of this to give.
- Your country, taken from the dialling code you pick.
What arrives with the message
- The page you were on when you sent the form, and the time you sent it.
- Where you came from — if you arrived from an advertisement or a campaign link, the tracking parameters in that link travel with the enquiry so we know which campaign to credit.
- Anything the calculator worked out alongside your enquiry, so the consultant sees the same numbers you did.
What the site measures
We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and understand which pages are useful. It sets cookies and records a shortened form of your IP address, the pages you open and roughly where in the world you are. We do not use it to identify you, and we do not sell or share this data for advertising profiles.
If we run advertising on Google or Meta, their measurement tags may be present on some pages and will set their own cookies, governed by their own policies rather than this one.
Why we collect it
| What for | On what basis |
|---|---|
| Replying to your enquiry, preparing an estimate and arranging a call or a site visit | To take steps you asked for before entering into a contract |
| Introducing you to a contractor enrolled with the utility, where you ask us to | Your consent, given when you ask for an introduction |
| Keeping a record of the enquiry and what was quoted | Our legitimate interest in running the business and being able to answer later questions |
| Understanding how the site is used and which campaigns work | Our legitimate interest in improving the site and not wasting advertising money |
| Keeping records the law requires us to keep | Legal obligation |
We do not send marketing e-mail to people who have not asked for it, and we do not buy or rent contact lists.
Who sees it
- Our own staff, through the internal system that holds enquiries. Access is by role: a consultant sees the enquiries they work on.
- A contractor enrolled with the utility, when you ask to be introduced to one. We pass on what that contractor needs to quote — your name, contact details and the site information — and nothing more. We tell you which contractor before we do it.
- An investor, in anonymised form only, where a project is being considered for co-investment or an ESCO structure. Your name and contact details are not shared at that stage.
- Service providers who run the tools we use — website hosting and the database (Cloudflare), the service that delivers our notification e-mails, and Google Analytics. They process the data on our instructions.
- Authorities, where the law requires it.
We do not sell personal data. Ever, to anyone.
Where it is held
The site and its database run on Cloudflare's network, which stores and processes data across data centres in several countries, and our e-mail provider may process message content outside the United Arab Emirates. Where data leaves the UAE, it goes to providers who commit contractually to protect it to a comparable standard.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that did not lead anywhere — 24 months, then deleted.
- Enquiries that became a project — for the life of the project and 5 years afterwards, so we can answer questions about what was agreed.
- Records the law requires — for the period the law specifies.
- Analytics — as configured in Google Analytics, currently 14 months.
What you can ask us to do
Write to hello@soltech.solutions from the address you contacted us with, or from any address if you tell us enough to find your record, and we will:
- tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete it, unless we are required to keep it;
- stop using it for a particular purpose;
- hand it to you in a portable format;
- stop contacting you, at any time, for any reason or none.
We answer within 30 days. There is no charge, and you do not have to explain why.
You can also turn off our analytics for your own browser at any time by visiting soltech.solutions/?notme — the choice is stored in your browser and nothing further is measured.
Cookies
The site sets a small number of cookies. The analytics cookies described above measure how the site is used. A cookie remembers if you have chosen to opt out of that measurement. If you have signed in to the internal system, a session cookie keeps you signed in. Your browser can block or delete any of them; the site works either way.
Children
The site is meant for property owners and businesses. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us something, write to us and we will delete it.
Security
Enquiries travel over an encrypted connection and are held in an access-controlled database. Access is limited by role and reviewed. No system is beyond reach, and we will not pretend otherwise — but we do not hold payment card details, identity documents or bank information, so there is little of that kind to lose.
When this changes
If we change how we handle personal data we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged on the site rather than made quietly.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, write to hello@soltech.solutions and tell us. If we cannot resolve it, you may raise the matter with the relevant data protection authority in the United Arab Emirates.
