Methodology, data status & sources

Effective grid price. Total applicable electricity charge at the selected monthly consumption — slab tiers calculated tranche by tranche, plus fixed charges, fuel surcharges and electricity-specific taxes where the utility applies them — divided by consumption. Never the headline rate alone. VAT handling: where the published consumer tariff already includes VAT it is shown as-is and stripped for the “Before VAT” view; where the utility bills VAT on top it is added. Currency conversion uses the live USD rate from the exchange-rate provider named in the FX panel; the exact rate and timestamp are shown with every calculation, and rankings can legitimately change when FX moves.

Solar LCOE (estimate). Lifetime cost ÷ lifetime generation: market CAPEX per kWp, plus operations, cleaning and insurance at 1.9% of CAPEX a year over a 25-year life, divided by annual PV yield × 25 years × 0.92 average degradation factor. CAPEX outside the UAE is a market estimate and the result is marked est. UAE figures use SOLTECH’s own verified project economics. LCOE is an investment metric, not a quote.

Solar opportunity score v0.1 (0–100): grid-vs-solar price gap 45%, annual PV yield 25%, CAPEX 20%, export/net-metering rules 10%. Weights are versioned; this label appears wherever the score is shown.

Data status. Each market carries a verification status shown in the sources row: VERIFIED — current official tariff confirmed; PARTIAL — official schedule known but simplified (fixed fees or category detail omitted) or pending re-check. No value on this page is invented; where data could not be confirmed, the market is not listed. Minimum wage figures are statutory national or capital-region rates with their effective dates; where no statutory national minimum wage exists, none is displayed.
